Coyle Surname Genealogical Project
Welcome to CoyleHistory.com!
The Goal: Collaborative Family History
We hope to unite Coyles from across the globe by providing a space for collaboration. Throughout the years there have been Coyles who have done incredible amounts of research. Unfortunately though, there is not much known Coyle history prior to the 1800s or even prior to the 1900s for some family lines. By working together, we can connect some of the dots about our ancestors, and meet others along the way!

Surname Origins
The surname “Coyle” has roots in both Irish and Scottish history. “Coyle” is derived from the Gaelic “Mac Giolla Chomhghaill,” which translates to “son of the servant of St. Comhghall.” St. Comhghall was an early Irish saint and the founder of the famous monastic school at Bangor, County Down.

Part of this project is to allow Coyle families to set up their own website, if they would like to. By using subdomains and WordPress Multi-site, this enables people to set up a website quickly and easily, at no cost. (Of course, within reason. If thousands of people want websites, obviously that changes things!)
